My friend has a 400ex with a Big Gun, dynojet and the airbox drilled out and when my Raptor was dead stock it still smoked him. Not even close we dragged up until the begining of 5th gear and it stopped being close after 2nd gear, It was even worse before he put the pipe on and rejetted. So one of 4 things the guy riding the Raptor could not ride, or the Raptor was a Dog or your EX is a miracle of science or you are full of it.

 

Well I think that the 400 could get the Raptor if it was in a short feild and the guy on the 400 was a better rider. Because 400ex do pull good through the first 3 gears. But that is it. My friend has a stock 2002 400ex and my other friend has a 2002 Raptor with a trimmed snorkel and a uni air filter. And I have a mildly modded DS 650. When we race in a field. We are all side by side through the first 2 gears. Me and the Raptor pull away from the 400 in our 3rd gears. And I pull the raptor through 4th and 5th. But also my friend with the 400ex has to have a factory freak because it is completely stock and he has beat every other 400ex he has ever raced including one piped 400ex and a piped, jetted and filtered 400ex. Don't ask me how. My friends Raptor is the same way he has beat every other Raptor he has ever raced. I havent got a chance to race any other DS's so I dont know how mine does.

This hurts me to admit but after 4th gear I watch my 15yr old pull away on the DS. The DS is awesome in the whoops,kicks about 75% it races but I cannot love it for some reason. Its kinda like a fat chick, everyone has riden 1 ,maybe even liked it but no one will ever admit to it. The DS is my fat chick and my Raptor is my sassy winch [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

I have to agree with the last post.

I have been reading all the mags and i disagree with a lot of stuff they say. One thing is the top speed for all bikes. They had the banshee as the fastest. I have never even gotten close to the top speed of my ds 650 baja on a banshee. Gps proves this. On flat the banshee holds its own but you put a little bit of up hill and the ds walks away. Put a little bit of downhill and the ds screams away.

Guy got pulled over on a ds doing between 135 and 140km on a major highway by the cops. I can garrenty the DS is the fastest.

Also like the last poster said its hard to get used to but if you try to get used to it and only ride this bike for a day or too you can start to out handle a raptor thanks to the wider stance.

I race the Raptor and DS all the time and the DS does away with it.
