I have a Shop Manual. You can rebiuld the whole machine out of this book. On page 4-65, item 3 is shown and listed as the Balancer. This section preludes the "Removal & Installation of the CrankShaft and Balancer.
One can order this manual from the dealer for $42.00 & Change. Mine came packaged with a separate update.
I have also read about the "Smooth Counterbalanced Rubber mounted Engine". Somewhere.

It's a good thing the dealer where I live knows what they are talking about, LOL.. I actually had planned on getting the service manual when I picked up the machine but it slipped my mind.

Rock:

You mentioned a shop manual. Where can I get one for the Kodiak? I haven't been able to find one.

Thanks

therock, You changed the jets, If you don't mind, did you have to wait on getting the parts. Did it improve the peformance a noticeable amount. My plug is black from idling too much, I believe. I have been working around the house pulling a lowboy trailer at low speeds. How did you change the jets? I have replaced them many times on Holly and Carter carbs. Thanks

Hi,

First get yourself a new plug or clean that one. Warm the machine up first then have a clean plug in it. Take her up to full throttle for a good little bit and shut the gas down and kill it. I close the throttle hit the kill button and break hard. Pull the plug and check the color. You want her to look like the color of cardboard.
The dealer should have your jet @ about $2.50 each. They come with a 132.5. Next is a 135.5 and then 137.5,40.0,42.5. I am running the 37.5 in the North Georgia foot hills and mountains.
Remove the seat, side covers, & tank cover. Take the screw out of the fuel valve **** and pull her out. Undo the fuel line and 4 tank bolts and lift her off. After that you will see what to do. Take off the rubber flap and airbox cover. If you are lucky you can loosen the carb and twist her.
