Hey guys, just installed my durablue this weekend and have a question. What is the torque everyone is doing on the axle nuts, the ones that hold the hub on. I actually should consider myself lucky since I got directions with mine and I know alot of you guys didn't but it has no torque specs. The service manual I believe said 50ftlbs for stock nuts which seems low to me to start. Especially considering the larger size on the durablues. Just wondering if anyone had an official spec or a good suggestion. Thanks.

My durablue had the torque spec sheet with it. they say to torque it at 40-50ftlbs. When i saw that i was like WTF! I just tightened like i normaly do and put lock tight on it. I suppose they dont want it to tight or you can mushroom the big spacer and ruin the bearings. I have never had any problems with any of mine and i probably torque it at 80-90ftlbs.

Thanks tecate,
I was thinking the same thing, WTF, 50ftlbs can be done with a 3/8th drive. I'll try 90ftlbs and see what happens. I guess I could always get new spacers, rather do that than lose a hub. thanks

You can tighten that nut till you
are duraBLUE in the face those things are junk
it will always loosen up thats why I took
mine off and got the LS because they use
the stock nuts which have not loosen up yet

Really, I was always tightening my stock axle nuts every third of fourth ride, Installed the Durablue, tightened and have yet to have any loosening hassles............

Alot of the constant retightening could be an indicator that your axle bearings are going bad, ball race wear allowing it to loosen, both mine where junk when I changed the axle............ new bearigns, everythings tight as.......

Throw some duct tape on it if all else fails. They are very good axles. I've had mine well over a year w/ some big air and no problems. I don't know about Lonestar axles, but their frames are junk.......
