if i dont set my float level to aprox 5/16 my quad runs out of gas on long runs,i was setting the float height to 1/2inch witch was higher than spec, running the float heigh at 5/16 seems to be working ok but im also thinking about changing the needle seat from a 2.0 to a larger size and then trying the recomended float height, anyone have any opinions on how much larger to go?

float level should be set to 0.52" (if you are measuring from the lip of the bowl to the point where the tang contacts the top of the needle), sounds like your float is set too tight and cutting off your fuel, would not recommend changing needle seat

i am measuring from the top of the float furthest away from the tang,i figure if you have to raise the float that much aperantly the needle and seat are not flowing enough gas ,on all atomotive carbs the float height is measured with the carb inverted and from the top of the float to the mating surface of the bowl, does yamaha recomened doing it differnt?
