ok, i just fixed my tranny my self, and it has been ok, however i know it will break again. I was wondering is anyone has done a sucessful swap to the 2002 gears. I would like to know part #'s ect.
what is needed, and relative price of whole job...Is it cheaper to just buy the 800 fortin gearset?. Just for my info. I have had the tranny apart so i know what you would be talking about. thanks

Wreck,

It's easier for me to direct you to (Powroll.com) then to type them all in. They list the parts w/ #'s.

The bad news, i believe the reverse gear is still on back order. It's been over a month sice I checked on that particular gear.

Cost should be right around 395.-. Typical dealers are asking upwards of 460.- and more.

Fortin, is making the 01 gears and ratios and is too swamped at this point to start the 02 design.

Good luck,
Swy

I have a complete set of 02 gears I would sell for 400.00 including the reverse pinion which everyone is waiting for. I would rather pay the big bucks and get the Fortin gears.
The 02 gears fit right into the 01 Raptors.
You have to switch shafts and all.

The parts required for the upgrade are listed below. I know Powroll have a website listing parts but i found a couple of parts that aren't valid. They have made a mistake, by looking at an electronic database instead of the OEM microfiche. There are 12 parts required in the transmission plus you will need a head and base gasket to make 14 parts in total. 1-off of each part is required. 1st gear is lower by 6%, 2nd by 9%, and 3rd by 3.7%. Reverse is also lower

Has anyone done this themselves. I am very mechanical and have most every tool that I could think of.

I have not done a trans in a motorcycle before, but am a very compitent mechanic.

Anyway, I am just trying to get an idea if this is something that I could tackle or if there is something that would require some kind of special tool or something.

Thanks
Bat
