In the coming month I will have saved up enough money to do some serious mods to my 2002 Wolverine. But, I'm not sure what I should get. I was hoping you fellows might help me on my decison.

1.Should I go with Powroll's High Compression Piston & Webcam's Racing Cam & valve springs, with the option of port & polishing the head?

Advantages:
One stop to the Yamaha shop & be done with the installtion.
Disadvantages:
Only bump up the Wolve to 390 or so CCs

OR

2.Should I go with Four Stroke Tech's Big Bore Kit?

Advantages:
Big upgrade in the horsepower catgory.
Disadvantages:
Installation cost & Reliability

Sorry so long,
Input needed please,WIll

Four Stroke Tech also has a 446 stroker kit that is supposed to be good,I have heard a few on the forum running it for a while with no problems. The 500 kit will require you to run the manual clutch kit,the auto can't hold up to the extra power. The 390 will give you a very nice power increase, and you can always go up from there.

Thats true, I wonder if a local shop would have trouble installing the 446 kit?

95Wolv: were you pleased with the added power of the new piston & cam?

My understanding is that the largest you can go on overbore is 365cc, above that it's resleeve / bore out the engine cases time ?

The 4mm stroker gives 380 cc (as in the newer aircooled "400cc" big bear)

After that its overbore and stroker time. Powroll can do a 435, FST got the 445 (probably pretty similar kits) The big strokers don't like to rev and my friends recently broken the rod on his 400cc stroker right under the gudgeon pin.......... the mess was heartbreaking, rod out through the cases in several places..............

The 365cc kit has alot going for it, Eric at mobiledyno has seen 30 rwhp from these, sounds good to me:

30 hp 365 warrior kits

I feel a decent power increase, the old engine seemed ok, but when I took it apart, I found the cylinder wore quite a bit, and the old piston was pretty sloppy. Low end is very snappy, revs real nice, and top end seems to have been enhanced, in fact,it feels like it needs a higher top gear,or an extra one, since shaft drive can't be re geared by changing a sprocket,I just got some 25 inch Maxxis Sur Tracs, they are only a little bigger than stock 23",but will be tall enough to give me a higher top end. Can't wait to get them mounted up and try, right now the exhaust is off to sandblast and repaint with some hi temp to get rid of some rust.

This is also what I plan to do. By the way the 500 kit doesn't require a manual clutch.

Go Fast Mods...

FST 446cc bore x stroke kit = $649
FST Manual Clutch = $85
FST Heavy Duty Clutch springs = $15
Web Cam (.430 lift) = $110
Race Valve Spring Kit = $70

With those mods you should outrun a 400ex. I think if I remeber from reading your previous posts that you have a pipe and jet kit also. Am I correct?

I thought that with the big bore strokers you will have to bore out the engine case, ask as this is a bit of a job..................

I'm probably going to call up mobiledyno Monday & see about the thunder kit. Over 30 horses in the Wolve sounds nice. I totaled up the mods I would need & the price came out alittle over 500 bucks, thats without labor. Sounds pretty nice.

THat sounds good. I am still planning on dropping the 446 in mine. I like the huge power increase. I can't pass it up for $650. Good luck on what you decide to do with it.
