Sorry to hear of your misfortune.....I have been in your shoes. Yamaha should be ashamed of themselves for not recalling the 01 Raptor. When yours locked up, you could have went over the bars too your death. Keep this in mind on your next purchase.

Go-ahead and get a manual. Trust me.....you will HAVE to have one.

Anyone reading this thread. . . do a search on Sam Coe in the DS Forum before you buy anything from them.

I wouldn't buy anything from Sam Coe right now! I suggest the '02 gears from Yamaha rather than buying anything from Sam Coe!

RaptorTranny or Craycraft can get the gears (I think).

i have had the tranny probs too! i threw second for the first time then had it replaced.....they undercut the gear which i thought would make the problem worse!!! then that gear went after about two rides!!! Finally i went with the Forton gear set and havent had any problems yet.

If you bore it I suggest a four inch bore and just run a small block chevy piston they are a dime a dozen

Yes, that would be nice....pin location is an obvious potential problem. Just because the bore size is potentially the same does not mean the piston will work. Old thread we have here.
