I bought a 2002 big bear 400 4x4 last friday. The top speed is only about 45-46. I was wondering how to make It go faster and I thought the govenor might be the problem so how do I take it out?

Piranha,
That's a good one. Thought the same thing myself when first glancing at the topic.

bigbearguy,
Power and gearing is what keeps the BigBear at those speeds. Not a rev limiter.

Did you not check into the machines performance before you bought it or did you happen to get a "not-so-knowledgable" salesman that told you it would perform better. If that's the case, take it back and pick up something that would cure your desire for speed.
Even a tricked out BigBear isn't going to be much better. And when you figure the price of mods, you would be better off starting with a bigger quad.

haha.....I had the same thoughts guys. My initial intentions opening this thread was too delete the thread and ban bigbearguy....lol. Sorry bigbearguy.....I have no first hand knowledge concerning the Big Bear 400 4X4. Couple of ?'s though....does the rev limiter (governor) kick in when you rev the machine? It may not even have one? May just be the gearing.....taller tires could increase top speed, but could rob power.
Just noticed this is your first post....WELCOME!
