Knowsalot I to have a question for you. First off I am greatful for all the info you provide in this fourm.
I have asked you questions in the past about my Raptor tranny trying to find back ordered parts. All the parts have came in after about 10 weeks I got a call from the dealer saying that Yamaha is only going to pay for gaskets and half of the labor, the problem is that the dealer says that he has 10 hours in it and the Yamaha book says that it should only take 6.2 hours. I must mention that I myself took the moter and tranny out of the machine for them to work on it so I would think that it wouldn't take that long to do just the tranny? Any way should I put up a fuss about the labor or should I just pay the rest of the bill and be happy I have it back? I have talked with Yamaha and they WILL NOT pay anymore. I have paid for all the 02 trany parts that came to a total of $336 plus the extra labor is going to be $380. as you can see that is going to be $716 when all said and done! Probably I should just take it like a man and pay it without a fuss what do think?

Lafngas - you might want to watch out for food particles and beer in your tranny, because they obviously took a nice long lunch while workin on your motor. If you already took it apart, and they say it's a 6 hour job, I wouldn't pay for those guys lazyness or lack of experience. As long as you b!tch them out enough, they will work with you to get you the hell away from them... LOL. I don't like to use rudeness as a way to get stuff, but they almost took twice as long as what they said it would, so thats their problem.

lafngas,
You have been screwed. No simpler way to put it.
I'm going to let you in on something that you may or may not already know. ALL dealers charge over what the book calls for in terms of billed hours when the work is not done under warranty.
Usually, what a dealer does, is he takes what the book calls for and multiplies it by 1.25 or 1.50......I've seen smoe that go as high as 1.75!! What you must understand is that they do this because they still have to pay their mechanic for those hours. They also do this so that they have bargaining room when you pick up your bike or quad and bitch about the repair bill.
I would make another call to Yamaha anyway and notify them of what's going on regarding the labor. They can't MAKE the dealer lower his rate, but if you get through to Yamaha enough that they actually call the dealer about it, I think you will find that they will loosen up a bit.
If this doesn't work, sadly, there is no other option.
LAST RESORT:
Make yourself known to the dealer that you participate in organized racing and that if he doesn't do his best to give you a fair shake, that everyone in your organization will know how he operates.
If that too doesn't work, pay him and get the hell out of there. It is obvious he doesn't want any part of your's, or your friends, business. Consider it as good riddance.
Good luck,
Patrick

okay, knowsalot, iv got... NOTHING! I have a good runnin dirtbike and bmx and ... well, lots of computer games. Cash and trade is fine. But I only want ps2 and aorf, i can get a burn copy of gta3 from my friend, infact, i can get aorf from the same friend, and gran tur.123, and a whole wack of other games, thats if ps2 games can be burned. PS2, at walmart, is $200+tax, but thats US, i live in canada, and its 300+tax. I ought to get a job in the summer or ... sell my dirtbike, or bmx. If I sold my dirtbike I could get .. well you tell me. 82 kawasaki ke100, weisco piston, answer bars, top&bottom end rebuild, new rear tire, new kickstart spring, comes with extra parts (signals, sprocket ect), new chain and sprockets, rm80 sprocket, only needs new chain adjuster for left side because the threads are stripped. Needs battery, but i dont think that matters, whose going to ride this thing at night lol, great begener bike, forks leak some. thats atleast $1500 canadian!
