How many HOURS... I count rebuilds in YEARS, 3 years so far on mine and still very close to stock compression.... Depends on how you take care of it; good oil mixed at a reasonable ratio and normal or slightly rich jetting will get you a long interval between rebuilds.

It is a good idea to keep a log of how many hours you put on your bike/engine also. I would say start thinking about a rebuild once you've logged ~ 100hrs of actual ride time (time that the motor is actually running).
As said before, use a good quality 2-stroke oil. Fully synthetic is superior to the lower grade oils. I personally am fond of Golden Spectro, and especially Amsoil 2000 fully synthetic.
