Help my warrior!
#1
I have been trying to get my '96 warrior's carb right. Since I've owned it, it would never take a full dump from an idle with out stalling. I have recently done some small mods., Rcm pipe, k&n filter, and went up two jet sizes(155). This did not help nor hurt the problem, but now I get no response from the air mixture screw. Ihave always had good luck with my quad, I have had no problems what so ever, just wanted to try to get a little more out of it. Any ideas?

Without hangin' in Ohio to watch it run, I'd say you're stuck with it. (Sounds like mine) The accelerator pump squirts raw fuel the second you crank the throttle wide open and the motor goes WAY rich for an instant, until the airflow catches up. The only fix I know of is to put a Mikuni round slide carb on it with a "UFO" in it. Check it out at UFO = Ultimate Flow Optimizer If I recall correctly, the carb+UFO setup will run you about $275, with the majority of the cost being the carb. The carb in question is White Bros. No. 15-313TT, Mikuni RS Carb, approx $200.

Another thing to check with the Warrior carb,if you have a bog off idle,is the accelerator pump spring. The 95 Wolverine shares a similar carb, and the spring that operates the pump rod return is pitiful, very weak, and easy for the rod to stay stuck down, then when you hit the gas,no shot of fuel, you go way lean, bog out. Take the bottom off the carb, take out the spring, make sure the pump body moves smoothly up and down in the bowl chamber,a burr can cause a hang up. Take the spring out of a click type ink pen,it is the exact same length and size, but 5 times stronger. I never had a problem with sticking after replacing mine. Try that before deciding to replace the whole carb set up.(if you do, I have a round slide set up for a Warrior) Good luck.

Sounds like the problem I had with my '01. I also took 95wolv's suggestion and changed the spring, but the throttle arm in the carb was still too far from the accelerator pump so I was still getting a bog off idle. I rigged an extension on the accelerator pump and WHAMO...off like a prom dress. Hope this helps.

Absolutely right about the gap from the pump arm to the rod, mine was real wide also, the carb was almost 3/4 open to hit the accelerator pump. You can take the arm off and carefully bend it to increase the travel,I run mine at about a .040 to .050 gap to let the carb open a little before the gas is shot in.
