For starter's get rid of that coil before you really mess things up. Use a 12 volt coil from a motorcycle or ATV..NOT an automobile and tractor!!!

The coil is essentially what multiplies the voltage going to your plug. Some ignition systems on cars with 12 volt systems will not function at all with a 6 volt coil, but some older models will.

The problem here is that you are putting a coil designed to put out 30,000+ volts of juice into your sparkplug. The ignition will not supply the coil with enough energy to supply that unless it's being spinned at higher RPMs.[RE: Pulling it with another quad!!!!]

I would start here. It may not be the problem, but even if it isn't.......it will be soon!!!

Good luck and let us know what comes about it.

Its a 6 volt system- I didn't see anything wrong with using a 6 volt coil..? But, I do agree it would be a wise Idea to try a actual coil designed for that motor, I just wonder how/where I can get one....hmm

Oh yeah- can I use a 12v coil on a 6 volt system??? Or do I HAVE to find a 6v coil for an atv..????

OKAY.......

I tried the coil off of our NEW 300ex (don't tell my gf! ) - and comparing it to the coil I have on it- there isn't a noticablr difference- at least to my eyes.. SO- I went back to the original- 6 volt coil.. I then began cranking the engine with a drill(my arms are KILLING me!)- although it never started,--- It did seem to try if I covered the carb with my hand. While cranking it would not try to fire at all- and if I covered the carb with my palm, the speed would pick up like it was almost gonna start to go- but then it would slow back down again..... Any ideas people? What really ticks me off is I just know, as soon as I pullstart it about 10 feet it'll fire and run fine... GRRRR!!! Why can't I start this beeaatch by hand?!?!?!

PLEASE! MORE HELP!!!! I NEED IT!!!

Well,

I have found the culprit- I THINK- LOW COMPRESSION!!! (GOOD JOB Wyoduner!)

I have a good amount of blowby/high pressure in the crankcase, so I guess I'll be getting new rings/piston soon..

THANKS GUYS!!!!!
