I installed some made from steel. They are manufactured by Motovan (I think in Quebec)and available here in Canada.
I bought my machine used and the originals were missing so I can't compare but I'm not 100% satisfied with them. They offer very little protection for the outer CV boots. They do cover the axle shaft and inner boots very well, but leave the outer fairly exposed to the front.
I may try to add a little on with the welder one of these days.

Try "Life Time Alluminum Products" They have a web site but I am not sure what it is. I have some of their stick guards on my Wolverine and they are very high quality.
If you can't find their site let me know, I have it written down somewhere.
