Went on a 40 mile ride today, and when I got the Grizz into water, even at high speed splashing, it started cutting out a little. It started this after it got hot. At one point, I had stopped, shut the machine off, restarted and it was cutting out when I first took off, I hadn't even been through water then, was just quite warm. Is this normal behavior, or should I get it checked out, or is it something simple to fix????

Have you checked the sparkplug boot to make sure that it is properly on? One other thing to do is dielectric grease in the boot. I had the same happen to me and it was water "pooling" around the sparkplug.

Supposedly, when water hits the engine, it makes steam (of course), and the air intake is situated right where this steam is being trapped, and gets sucked right into the carb, causing the cutting out of the motor.

A guy we were riding with a couple weeks ago experienced this first hand, on his first outing on the quad. He was very disappointed.

One of the Grizzly owners on the forum just got done posting some pictures of some mods he did to his 02 660,he had the same water crossing/steam intake problem. He carefully cut some nice vent openings in the side covers, behind the fuel valve, and made matching ones on the right side. Then he epoxied plastic rain gutter screen (like the stuff used to keep leaves out)on the back side of the vents. Looked like factory, very neat job, and he said it allowed the steam and excess heat to get pushed out the sides, and had no more water crossing problems after that. I'm sorry ,I can't remember his handle, but do a search under Grizzly from the last couple of weeks, I'm sure you'll find his post,if you don't mind a little cutting on you quad, it should fix your problem.
