I'll apologize in advance if this topic has been beaten to death....I've searched the archieves and gotten lots of good info but....

My current set-up:
a) Pro-Flow Foam filter
b) FMF powercore IV slip-on
c) Snorkel flap removed.
Everything else stock

I'm going to install the Dynojet Stage II jet kit. I want to be sure I'm jetted right -not lean- for Glamis (sea level). The instructions say to use the DJ144 (left) and DJ146 (right), clip 4th slot from top, and 3 turns (from closed) on the fuel mixture screw.

??Question:
Anybody out there with the same set-up and jet kit and is it correct for sea level. Does it run good (idle, etc...).

Curve ball:
I also ride at 4500' elevation regularly - do ya think it will be blubbering rich with the above mentioned set-up?

Thanks, Eric

OK - well if nobody has the exact same set-up, how about something close ? Are the Dyno-jet (K&N) instructions good or is there normally additional tweaking reqd ?

Thanks

I have the DynoJet kit with the mods below..... the kit was "spot on" with their recommendations for my setup! I love the kit and I'm sure you will too. It provides GREAT throttle response and a hard pull down low. Follow their guidelines and you will be set. Turn your air/fuel mixture screws all the way in until they bottom out - then turn both of them out 3 turns!

Start with their recomended setup and then go one jet up and down until you think it is running correctly. On mine using one size smaller then they recomend seems to give the best overall result. But I ride right around the 5000ft break point (5500 ft).

At Glamis I stuck with the one size smaller poilcy....and it ran very well....on olds I smoked some DS's, 250r's, a cannonballer, and even a few piped shees. Also pulled the other Piped/Jetted raptors. I think the extra 4 teeth on the rear sproket helped alot. The other raptors could only hold speed in third when I could get into 4th.

Yes 4,500 feet will cause it to run rich. You will very likely lose low to mid drivability.....It should still run but you will get a big lag and miss when you hit the gas...right before it loads up and rips your arms out.

I will echo what ERaptoid said. I did the same on my Raptor and my cousin did the same on his 400EX. Niether of us had any issues at all. Great kit and it takes the guess work out of the trial and error process. Although, you can do like bpotter said and experiment to fine tune your paticular machine.

I forgot to mention I set the needles in the #4 clip position as per the instructions.

Dyno Jets recommendations were spot on but I added a white power filter and cut a huge hole in the lid, and removed the snorkel. The whole I covered with outerwears water proof material. I put in the 148/150 dyno main jets and put the needles at the four spot and turned the fuel mixture screws out three and a half turns. Runs like a champ and easily added three to four horses to my stock piped machine. I ride at 1000 feet above sea level. If you leave the box and filter stock the 144 and the 146 would more than likely not leave you rich at 4500 feet.

Sorry I have just now read this post and have seen it for days. You said DJ kit that works well I didn't like mine. I ran the same set-up as you for awhile and never could get it right. I tried every combo I could think of and just couldn't get it. I would either have a miss at the top and would back down one size then the plug would be stark white. I have now found out that it could be caused by the gas washing the plug off but I don't have that problem with the Mikunis. Alot of people sware by the DJs I am just not one of them. The 150/148 was the closest that I ever found.

Hey Ward,
Sorry to hear that. I am new to the jet and needle game, I consider myself lucky that things worked out for me as well as they did. I also have a cousin that has done this a lot so I can refer to him for advice also. Before I added the stage II kit, I installed the pipe and jetted according to Yosh specs (150/155) plus air box lid mods. When I added the stage II kit I rejetted to the K&N specs, (146/148) needles in #4 position, air screws out 3 turns and I cut a few more smaller holes in the lid.....it rocks, no problems

good luck
