blaster wide open.......need some tech talk

the throttle on my blaster will stick wide open when i get on it real hard or if i tap the throttle. the top lid that you screw on the carb was stripped when i bought it, so put a dab of JB weld on it and zip tied it down as tight as i could it stopped it for about three hours of riding. when my racing buddy got on it tonight and wanted to see what it would do after i fixed it, it started going wide open and wouldnt shut off by the key or the kill switch, we had to choke ot off in 3rd gear to make it die. after we got it to shut offi cranked it again and tapped the throttle and it done it again. what should i look for to do to it? I have a race on the 28th and i need it to act straight before the race so i dont hurt myself or get a DNF cause of it doing this.

Sounds like the thing is still binding up.
Check to make sure the cap is completly seated and that the cable isn't twisted when putting the cap on.
Not only have I seen the "stripped cap" scenario with yours, but nearly every other Blaster that comes in for repair.
Ofcourse, there is always the DG Keihin upgrade which involves a whole new carburetor which doesn't have the "mess" that the stock carburetor comes with. You can get one of these for about $200.00 and offers more performance than stock to boot.

It's not necessarily electrical. 2-strokes are capable of running without a spark in situations where they're running low on gas... I'm not positive on exactly what happens (Knowsalot?), but I do know it's possible. I'm assuming that if you got into a situation where the throttle is stuck open, and the engine is right strung out, it would be equally possible to run the engine with no spark, although it CAN'T be good for it...
