first problem with my 2000 grizzly 600
#1
First problem i've had with it. It all of a sudden quit, just like that. Had to be towed home by a big bear.
I checked the spark plug and it did not flood, and it also is NOT giving off any spark. I've heard it could be a few things as it has no spark. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do besides bringing it into the dealer. oh ya and I even tried another 2nd spark plug. Nothing.
Got 3600km's and hit my first hickup.
Thanks.

Check your pick-up coil on the alternater. I had the same thing happen to me after about 1200 miles. Luckily it didn't break in the middle of a ride! In fact, what happened was that I had ridden the hell out of it the night before. The next morning it wouldn't start. I checked everything and found that there was no spark!
Prepare yourself for the cost! The pick-up coil is a very small module on the input side of the alernater. Yamaha doesn't sell the pick-up coil as a separate unit.At least thats what I was told. You have to buy the whole alernater to get it! It cost me $389! If you look around, you can find the part used for a lot less! I looked all over hell and couldn't find a single "alternater" with a pick-up coil attached. You can easily separate it from the input wires. Yamaha did their homework when it comes to screwing us for the price of that part!
I hope it turns out to be something else for you. But if it isn't, don't sweat it. I've put over 1000 miles on since that problem without a scare at all!.
