DMC Alien Exhaust For Raptor...BS???
#11
Blue,
I have a couple of road dogs who have the DMC, Zombie being one of them and I've heard no complaints about the alien what so ever. I've riden Zombie's machine and I promise you there was no loss of low end torque due to the DMC pipe! I know that zombie compared a couple other pipes via the dyno and his DMC put out a better power curve.

If it's 103 w/o the SA, you should be ok. I'm sure the SA will drop it down one or two DB. A friend of mine has one on his 400ex w/o the spark arrestor and that thing is loud. I had a Cobra exhaust on my 300ex (which is pretty much a straight pipe off the header) and they were about the same as far as being loud. The sound is distinctive too... sounds really good.

Ok let me throw this out. What about the Trinity ? Harry has a no questions return policy if you are not happy. It looks sweet and has the two headers sweeping back. I understand though if it is the fact you just have to have one. Hell I'm guilty of buying my Yoshi full titanium system because It was what I wanted no matter what. Go with what you want but if still unsure check out trinity. Call Harry and ask him ????? what they may be.

MichaelAZ - This pipe is one of those "I gotta have it" deals. I'm definately hooked.
The DMC guys told me the SA doesn't help the noise much, doesn't even drop it 1 DB. I really want the pipe, maybe if I get checked I could just run it at a little above idle, and get away with it like you did Zombie. I dunno. I hate to lay that kind of money down, and find out it's too loud, and get nailed having it. Hell, I think I might just go for it. I'm yet to run into a ranger where I ride. As long as you just put away from the staging area, and don't make a bunch of noise, maybe I will be left alone. My other choice was the yoshi, but for some reason, I just don't like that exhaust. I will call Trinity and see what the DB is of their pipe. I know the only thing that will make me happy is that DMC pipe. I think in typing this, I talked myself into buying it!
Zombie - did you stick with the stock airbox? I want to switch out my airbox at the same time, that thing sucks...Doesn't even filter that well. I have to clean my filter after each ride.
Thanks again for everyone's help. If any of you ever find yourself in North California, let me know, we'll go see what kind of trouble we can get into...

Zombie, thanks for the advice on this pipe. I bought it. Holy crap, it's like I got a new quad. The pipe's power curve it AWESOME! I mean, it gained in the entire power band, and on the top end it really winds out more. When I'm in the staging area, I just putt away, don't make a scene. Oh, and get this, first time out, a forest ranger was out there. 1st time i've ever seen one where I ride. He was checking the DB on a two wheeler. I just gave it a 1/4 throttle and got out on the trail. Putted away about a 1/2 mile out. The guy didn't even look my way. Louder than stock, but not that bad. Got out a ways, and opened it up. Okay, have to admit, it's frickin loud when you open it up. The pipe rules. Sounds sweet....and way out there, there's no one around to bother with the noise. Plus, I'm crossing over to Nevada more to ride, and there's not many rules there.
Thanks again...I love this pipe. It's a blast!
will update mod list soon...

Ok, I am in the market for a full exhaust system. I was pretty much set on the full yoshi exhaust, but then I saw an ad for the DMC Alien exhaust. I really like the looks of the pipe. It looks sweet. Also, it reads in the add the following:
"The DMC 4-Stroke Pulse Chamber operates as a variable tuning device over a range of RPM's to continuously deliver maximum torque and horsepower. The dual outlets work in conjunction with the Pulse Chamber to insure proper backpressure at low to mid range engine speed and minimum outlet restriction at high RPM"
OK, so, these guys are saying they can give you a great increase in power at the bottom and top end because of some device that regulates backpressure in their pipe. Sounds really good, because I was worried about giving up low and mid power for top end gain. I go to their web site at Official DMC Online Store for ATV and UTV Exhaust Systems and Slip Ons, Home of the Dual and Twin Exhausts, and find the following:
"The new era of exhaust systems begins right now. In a completely revolutionary design, the DMC Alien incorporates a completely new exhaust technology adapted from hydrodynamic flow theories.
Specifically developed for the Raptor twin-port engine, the DMC Alien features separate header pipes for each port to supply maximum scavanging, creating a superior combustion chamber "fill" and flow.
Pack more action out of the Raptor with the DMC Alien and experience up to 55% more torque and up to 57% more horsepower"
Okay, this all sounded great, until I read the 55% more torque and 57% more horsepower. Stock, my raptor has about 35 horsepower, they are saying I will add 19.95 horsepower with their pipe! So I will have a 55 HP Raptor with gobs of torque by adding their pipe.
I'm sorry, but to me this sounds like bullshit! If anyone has one of these systems, and can vouch for that type of power gain, I will buy one tomorrow, otherwise, I am going to turn them into the US Bureau of Consumer Affairs. I hope I'm wrong, but those numbers just seem too huge by adding a pipe. A gain of almost 20 HP for $500, who wouldn't be running their pipe.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings.
