I have lost the nut to the chain adjusting bolt for the swingarm. It's the big one that you have to loosen to make chain adjustments. Somehow I lost it. I know I can order one at my local dealer, but I need one today. Does anyone know what threads those are, so that I might get lucky and find one at a hardware store. It will be difficult to pull the bolt to take it with me.
Thanks!

I don't know the size but, why don't you pull the other one off & take it with you?

Other one? not the two adjusting bolts. i guess that's what it sounds like I described. It's the large one that runs side to side, and those two bolts move when tightened, and loosened. Or is there another one of those. It's a big bolt, with a real funny end on one end.
Thanks,
dan

There is only 2 threads to chose from in metric I believe, just buy one of each in every size, it shouldnt cost you more than $5 or so. and you will have them for something else.

Sears stocks metric hardware.

There are 2 lock nuts on the right side of the carrier (looking from the back)....one on top of the carrier and one on the bottom. How have you been adjusting your chain without knowing this?

For those that might care, and those that might search for this info. later.......

The threads on these bolts are 12x1.25mm. There are 3 threads available. 12x1.75,12x1.50,12x1.25. The one for the bolts is the finest thread 12x1.25mm. I found some nice nuts with built in nylon locks for 75 cents, and a couple of washers for $.09 cents. I'm going to keep the 1 remaining factory nut in the tool box as a spare. I don't see those lock nuts coming loose though!
