raptor headlight problems!!!
#1
I have a 2000 Raptor and I do quite a bit of night time trail riding in the U.P. of michigan, at least I would like too!!! My headlights keep blowing out do to moisture getting inside, do to rain, riding and even just cleaning the bike. My friends with raptors have the same problems, we contacted Yamaha about the problem and they said that this is the first that they've heard about it!! Anyone else with the same problem?????

warrior007,
Your problem is different. It is caused from corrosion in the socket which makes contact with the bulb itself. If you take apart your lights and get the bulb, you will see what I'm saying. In time, most Rap guys will experience this problem. Once replaced, apply some electricel type grease on the contacts, this will keep it from corroding again.

Thanks everyone for replying!!
But my problem is with Yamaha. I was wondering if anyone had discussed their problem with their dealers. My grief is with Yamaha, because we pay good money for their product, and I believe they should stand behind it and correct it. Beside riding in the Upper Penninsula, I do quite a bit of riding at the Badlands in Attica, In. (when there is nothing else to do). I always ask guys with Raptors this question, and amazingly about 3/4 of them have this problem, so I don't know how Yamaha doesn't know about it. P.S. I agree that their headlights are sub-standard and aren't nearly bright enough, but thats not the issue I have with them.
Thanks again! Kez
