Well let me know how it turns out.
I am sorry for the frustrations that this bike is causing. I know that one minute i LOVE it and the next i am pissed. BUT, i will have to say, all the bugs that i have had, yamaha was willing to fix. The only out-of-pocket for me was bypassing the limiters. I understand your problem with the sputtering in forward and if the valves dont do it....better luck with your next machine.

I'm impressed with all you guys helping each other out and most recommendations are spot on. The valve adjustment (especially the intakes) are very important and need to be checked often. This is probably the most important and the first item to check if you are having misfire or spottering.
Additionally, with this hot summer temps, the carb jetting is way too fat. Drop couple sizes and feel the difference. See my reply to engine overheating thread.
Keep up your good communications guys.

Oh, another thing, try this, it maybe little crude but it works.
Venting the side panels do work but to get consistent air temp into the air box, cut a hole (about 3~4"
into the tank cover just above between your legs. That's where the air box inlet is. With a hole there, the air intake will pull from outside air and not the under hood hot air. On mine, I slipped a 3" PVC pipe to seal it around the intake duct so it only pulls from top outside air. You can trim the pipe to make it look OK.
Keep me posted on results if anyone choose to do so. Also, be careful when washing your Grizz with this mod - don't fill your air box with water.

Hey Guy's
I have adjusted the valves, re-jeted and killed the rev limiter.
I have also modified the side panels for better air cooling.
Problems solved. the beast doesen't bog any more.I am taking it to the mountains to try some hills and mud. Will tell you if it works all around.

i might just be a little overcaring about my grizzly, but i do things to it all the time. the no. 1 thing i do, every 20 or 25 hours is adjust the valves! i havent experiances spuddering but once, and that was enough for me! i continue to mod it, a little here and there, some not noticable, but i do. when i read posts about some things, i wonder why. well, if the valves are tight, and your putting her under a big strain, then she aint gunna get the gas she needs to pull out. so, learn how if you dont know, and you can get good enough to do it in under 2 hours start to finish! also, i highly recommend a simple snorkle system to the belt drive. this is not hard at all, i rate it a 5 from 1 to 10. i can go so much deeper than my brother with the same quad! better than that though, is using simple nylons( black on mine) filters alot of the dust from the belt. when i pulled off my brothers belt to teach him how to clean it all out, and pulled mine, what a differance!!! i can, and DO go to my racks without a problem anymore! i love the idea ov running a snorkle through the top of the gas tank plastic too!!! been trying to figure a neat, simple way to snorkle and add more air, and that just might work!!!
