Just an update on my sputtering sitch.

I picked my grizz up from the dealer friday. they rejetted, cleaned air filter (something I do too), put reflective tape on bottom of tank, and adjusted valves.

went riding today (saturday), NO MORE SPUTTERING!!! YIPPEEEE!!!!!!!!!

I was talking to dealer about this heat build up sitch, he says Yamaha has a new trick now too if my problem continues. they add another fan, blowing air at the head somewhere. I didn't get it but that is what my dealer will do if I complain again about sputtering.

so, I am likely fixed and rocking and rolling. Thanks all for the input! catch you on the next post!

02 Green 660- over a year old now. Only one small heat problem that caused the bike to lose power on one occassion. HL exhaust wrap & reflective tape under the gas tank fixed that and never a problem since. Other than that, nothing has ever gone wrong with this quad.

I would own nothing other than this, unless they came out with a manual transmission model. If this quad wasn't available, I'd have an AC 500i. Even more so with the new Vinson engine in it.

Many problems. Absolutely not reliable.
If Polaris really improved steering in 01 as they claim,I may go back to SP500 HO. You buy the 660 Grizz. for a top dollar and you have to start fixing their design problems./ and spend more for new tires/.
Put new tires on it and better buy new rims ,too.

Colt DOES own a griz. I would say that YOU (boneylong) are the one that dreams of riding.

Dont try to start arguments on here. This is a forum on "sharing" our ideas and opinions about operation and quality of the bikes that we have. I have ridden with Colt and would say that he is one of the guys here that i would "VALUE" his opinion. Not many ride the way we do. We put hundreds of miles on our quads every month, in the roughest terrain, and his opinion COUNTS.

I may not agree with some of the opinions, but there is no need to slander another rider for his.

I would buy a quest 650 over the grissly anyday. My griss had about 2 of the problems mentioned above plus the 4x4 switch didnt work. I have had 3 2000+ yamaha util bike and they all sputtered. My kodiak even came with a bent rim.

My grissly was fun but the problems came. Im trading it in for somthing else. It couldnt pull enought also. I tried moving some dead cars with it and it just bogged. Quest 650 just schools the griss on how to be a util bike.

I don't mean to butt in since I've never owned a Grizz, but it seems to me that the Quest 650 and 660 are on totally different ends of the big bore spectrum. The Quest is based on the Traxter, which everyone knows can out work any other quad but it isn't necessarily the best platform for aggressive trail riding (rear swing arm instead of IRS, and the lack of a 2/4wd shifting). Don't get me wrong the Quest is a fantastic machine, and I have thought about buying one a couple of times but it hard to compare the two fairly. Just my two cents...
