What are the first things i should get for a Blaster?

One of the best mods you can do to it is change the rear tires. Put on some 20s they will increase the bottom end. That new Toomey pipe looks great if it does for the blaster what it does for the banshee it should be a winner. I put raptor tires on my warrior and it really helped alot.

HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE CONVERSION!!!!!!!
If you are buying a new 2003 model, this will not be a problem.
If it's an older one, do this before you do any serious mods.
Better braking makes you faster than a pipe would. Something to think about.

I am glad you started this thread. What about Vito's pistons? Heres the deal a friend got a blaster for $200, it has a shattered piston and a hole in the case. The hole is fixed, I think, but we haven't decided on a piston yet. It already has pipe, filter, and reeds.

The vitos piston is supposed to be good, they claim it adds 5 horspower, but if i had a blaster in that condition id buy a 240 kit from them for 250 dollars instead....and what are you talking about???!?!Why would you seel a blaster so you could buy a mojave or 250ex?!?!?!??!!??The blaster is better than both in my opinion and even if you thought that they were better than the blaster they cant touch a modified one!!!No flaming, just roasting...

For mods to a Blaster, I would recommend the following:
1. Replace the stock tires with a set of 20" square profile ties (ie - Holeshots, Razors, etc)
2. Toomey B1 pipe/jet kit/Air filter. This is a better pipe than the FMF Fatty (we switched my son's from the Fatty to the B1).
3. Replace the stock 13T front sprocket with a 14T.
4. Replace the stock reeds with a set of carbon fiber (we went with the VForce, but bolting on a set of carbon fiber reeds to the stock cage would work well also). May need to change jetting for this.
5. Install a +4 degree key from Vitos.
6. Have the flywheel shaved about 6 ounces. This will help acceleration.
7. When time and money permits, have the head shave at least 0.020" for increased compression. You can still run pump 93 with only shaving 0.020".
8. At some point, you'll want to have the cylinder ported. A good port job will really wake up the Blaster.
9. Remove the oil injection system and pre-mix your oil/gas. Parts for this can be had at your local Yamaha dealer (Yamaha actually sell a block off plate just for this. My cost for this at my local dealer was $18, not the $30 dollars being charged by most aftermarket companies)
10. Bolt on a 35 pwk air stryker carb along with a Pro-Design aluminum intake. Good power increase.
11. Perhaps prior to all the engine mods, you'll want to put aftermarket a-arms, and shocks for a better ride to handle all the added power. A lengthened swingarm would help also.

Rog
