Most overpriced quads are...

Not trying to start a flame or anything because my picks are all good bikes, just overpriced.
1.) Polaris SP 500 HO @$6999.00 retail.
2.)Polaris Expedition @ like $6299.00
3.)Honda 450 @ like $6300.00 or something.
I'd get a griz at what they want for a sp 500. Polaris is dropping the price on it so that proves it's over priced. The expediton is just way out there and they are axing it anyway. The honda, while an excellent workhorse is overpriced compared to the competition. I know Honda comes at a premium though cause they think their product is better then everyone elses, which it's usually not. Of course you can get a better deal on these bikes w/ cash but if your trading, your going to get juked. Once again, all fine quads though I have no desire to own any of them except maybe for resale. What do you guys think?

Honda's big bore 4x4 quads.
It's Honda's fault really. They have came to the point that they are out pricing themselves right out of the market.
The new Rincon 650 sells for $7599!!!!
The Rubicon 500 price was $7299 last year, but they lowered it to $6999 this year to keep it further away from the Rincon 650 price.
I'm not saying that they aren't worth it, but they are the one's setting the prices it seems. They go high, and then a manufacturer brings out a competing model that is bigger for the same, or lesser amount of cash.
I mean, up till the 2003 models, you could buy a Grizzly 660 cheaper than you could buy a Rubicon 500!!
Look at the 400EX. They priced that model high from the beginning in 1999. They had to do that without dropping the 300EX price greatly, which would offend the recent buyers of the 300EX. Honda doesn't plan to lower the price of the 400EX either as of yet. You can buy a Z400, which is considered to be a better buy with the extra power and reverse gear. It will be interested to see what happens with the 400EX price. Especially with the rumored announcement of a new sport quad next month.
Look at the 1989 TRX250R. It sold for $4098.00, BUT the 1988 model sold for only $3098.00...that's a $1000.00 difference for the same quad!!!!

JHAM,
Funny you should mention the power steering. The Honda prototype of their version of Kawasaki's Mule has power steering. It's closer to reality on our fourwheelers than most think. Honda showed us this machine two years ago and was supposed to go to production.....but nothing yet.
bbertram,
The sport quad rumors have circulated within Honda about two different models......
One rumor is a TRX650EX based off of the liquid cooled XR650R engine or the air cooled electric start engine used in the XR650L.
The second rumor is that Honda will release a TRX350EX based off of the Rancher 350...similar to what they did with ther Recon making it into a 250EX.
The rumor about the 650 quad has been going for a long time. I have spoken to more than a few people who have actually seen this quad tested by Honda back last year. The same guy who helped design the 400EX has been working on this as well. I would look for this to be the model they introduce, but like you said,...it could be shown and labeled as a 2004 model to be released next year.
We will all know in 4 weeks. The dealer convention will be in Chicago this year.

3TV,
LMAO!!!....Yeah. Caddy came to their senses and discontinued the Escalade this year.........as did Lincoln with the Blackwood. I'm not sure about the Navigator. I think it's still around.
The Cannibal is only $500.00 more than a Raptor. Neither quad has an advantage over the other unless you have to have the reverse gear. The engine's response due to the EFI and lightweight aluminum frame justify the $500.00 in my opinion.
NO quad out there should run over $6000.00 but it's just wishful thinking on my part.
I am a Cannondale fan bigtime, but I do have a problem with one machine in the lineup. As far as the Moto 440 goes....I think this quad is waaaay over priced regardless of what mods are on it. I have broken it down several times. You can buy a Cannibal and put YOUR choice of the same parts that come equipped on the Moto for less than $11,000. All Moto buyers are doing is paying Cannondale the extra to put it altogether and say they have a Moto.....go figure that one.
