best way for winching grizz660
#1
say a buddy is stuck in a mudhole and you have to winch him out on your grizz660. What is the best way?? I mean do you strap the back to a tree or hold the brakes in or can you put it in the park gear? Does that put too much strain on the drivetrain?? Thanks for the help

every time i have ever wenched anyone, being a quad or a car, i have always put it in reverse, and wenched and backed up at the same time.
using both the power and the wench is a sure way to pull out anything buried, lol!

Here are a couple of side notes for you. If you "strap" your bike down...make sure that you strap it where you wont bend your bumper or frame. If you can....strap to the hitch mount. As for PULLING a bike out with the winch.....i would recommend never to do this. What i mean is, dont PULL the bike out with the winch cable like a towstrap. Let the winch motor do the work. If you just pull the bike (using cable as towstrap) you can damage the gears in the wench. The gears are plastic and will strip out when doing hard TUGS. I do alot of offroading with a Jeep and have had this happen to me. Just remember to let the winch do the work....
Another thing....RON, have you had any belt slippage in reverse while winching someone out? I just had this happen to me this weekend. I put it in reverse and used the winch to pull, as well as, slowly moving bachwards and the belt "squeeled" on me. Wondering if i am starting to wear the belt out!
