Bought a New Z400 Today
#1
Just wanted to know if any of you Z400 owners had any problems from the get go. Here is something I found out so far but only looked at it for a few minutes and had to go back to work. When I got home to start it up and move into the garage I noticed it wouldnt go into gear, actually any gear. I would let out the clutch all the way and nothing.. I even tried Reverse which the reverse light wouldnt come on. Then after about 2 to 3 minutes of running it went into all the gears fine and so then I took off down the street and back and everything is sweet now. One more thing, when I started it for the first time, everytime I would pull the choke all the way open it would die. It was like the choke wasnt working and when I turned it all the way down towards me the bike would die on the spot. So I just kept my throttle on a little bit (trying to work out the gears as I said awhile back) then it idled fine.
So if you have had anything like that or if I have done anything wrong or didnt do anything right, please let me know.
Thanks

It just needs a couple hours on it. I didn't have any gear issues and I haven't needed to use the choke yet. I did kill the engine quite a few times tring to go from 1st to reverse. The clutch assembly just takes a while to get used to. I bought mine on July 20th and haven't had any problems yet and it's been loads of fun so far. Hope you enjoy too! I examined the quad today and everything seems to be ok, I took it out today and first thing when I started it, it went to the high idle with the choke, and went trail riding through the hills outside my city and man is that bike comfortable to ride!! I was very suprised, I even let a buddy of mine ride it which has a new 02 DS Baja which is like a cadillac thru rugged territory and he liked it. That bike handles corners well, better than my raptor, maybe when I get a year or so on it I might look into swapping motors between the two bikes.... I have a friend that swaps all kinds of motors in quads and would be surprised on what he has done.
All in all that is a nice riding machine.
