Snapped off the bolt INSIDE steering stem, now what ?? NEED ANSWER ASAP !!!!!
#1
Well trying to take off old trail tech studs off the steering stem on my raptor and the bolt snapped off flush. It left about 3/8ths of stud inside which I mostly drilled BUT what size of threads and what is the diameter of the stud used ???? Moose ?? Knowsalot ??
I'm thinking once I find out , then I can "re-cut the threads" by running a tap into the hole and cleaning out the alum. debris from the stud maybe 64th still left around the thread area.
Any Ideas??

Hey Michael.
My CD drive hasn't worked in nearly 3 weeks, so I can't pull up my fiche on it.
If I remember correctly, the thread size should be 8mm with a 1.25 thread pitch. [If I am right, the head of the bolt would have been a 12mm]
Drill that puppy out and then take another bolt of the same size and carry it with you to a hardware store or an auto parts store and get the proper tap to run through the threads. Just be sure to get a tap with a 1.25 thread pitch and not a 1.10 or 1.50

great ! At least I have a starting point. I dont have the original bolts from yam as I replaced them last year with trail tech hex heads. Yam online part finder says the part # is 95827-08035-00,BOLT, FLANGE

You are talking about the bolts that hold the bar to the stem right?
I took 1 out & measured it
1.25mm thread pitch
7.80mm bolt size (I assume that makes it a 8 mm since I can't find my metric bolt gauge)
It's 45mm long from the seat of the head to the end of the bolt.
I replace all the stock bolts I take out with stainless allen heads.
Sorry it took so long I was watching the Bristol Winston Cup Race!
Hope this helps.

OK...Let's break down the part number you provided.
95827-08035-00
95827........Flange Bolt [If it were anything other than a 1.25 pitch, the number would be different in the last two numbers and the description changes to "special bolt"
08035........8mm thread and 35mm in length
00...........First series [Meaning that this part has not been updated since it was first produced. If it was, the number here would be 10, meaning "first update". A 20 means "second update"...etc, etc, etc]

Problem is FIXED !!!!!1 . I simply bowwered a tap from a friend, drilled 17/64ths to remove any burrs/shavings and to give me a fresh tap and re-tapped her!!! hmmmmmmm I love re-tapping her opps back to the bike I went ahead and ran the tap into the other remaining 3 holes (obviously no drilling needed)just to clean them up and the new trail-tech bolted up nice and easy !!! Huge thanks to Knowsalot,Moose and Roost (see I told you Todd was alright)
