I have a 98 Blaster in great condition after every ride I make sure to disassemble the quad and clean and grease everything. I'm very careful about keeping it in good condition. So this kind of threw me off. We were riding at rumble on the ridge (31 straight miles) and the throttle started to slowly accelerate with out me touching it. Has anyone ever had this problem? If I start it without hitting th gas it will slowly rev all the way to Wide open throttle.

Thanks for any help

Mike

This has probably plauged every blaster owner since the begining of time. TORS. Disconnect the tors on top of your carb. Just unplugg it. Also check your throttle cable tension.

You could very well have an air leak. Does the exhaust smell odd? If so it could be the right crank seal. The seal behind the stator could also be leaking, so could the intake, or base gasket. If it slowly idles up, I am sure it is a leak. You can spray carb cleaner or either around these parts with it running and if it dies or revs harder, you do have a leak.

Then clean it? Or plug it back in? I hope I don't have a leak somewhere. Either way thanks for the tips guys and I'll try both this weekend.
FEZ: how expensive was it to get your motor where it is now not counting the parts that I already have.

Make sure the cap on the top of your carb is tight. It can come loose and your slide can stick open causing it to rev up on it's own and stay there. I've had lots of blasters come in with this problem.
