I think your right. My Prairie 650 still ran fine it didn't affect the performance. It just squawked when I first took off, but it still bothered me. It shouldn't do it with less than 500 miles on it, especially when a Polaris has over 2,500 miles and doesn't make a sound. I was hoping that the Yamaha had a better design, since I had heard something about it being different. I loved the Prairie 650, but I didn?t like the way the belt squawked. I wish they would make a 5 speed manual version

Just a quick note.....
I have around 2000 miles on my bike and i just heard the first "squawk" out of it. I was in reverse, 4low, and pulling like all hell to get another bike out of the mud. It was the first and only time that i have heard the bike do this. Still runs fine, still rides fine, and doesnt do it.....but i am sure that i could get it to "repeat" the sound
i ride with alot of grizzly owners and i have never seen any of the bikes with belt/tranny problems.
If you want to know anything else about the bike....just ask
