Gunning up a hill today, a fairly long steep one might I add, I clipped a tree and snapped the axle right even with the splines of the hub. Some tense moments as I quickly found myself jerked around 180 degrees heading for a tree. It actually saved my tail as I was then less one wheel that I didn't know about until a couple seconds later when I see it tearing down the hill. Buddies jumping to get out of the way. Wound up wedged against this now lovely tree. Damage. One Axle toast, front break line, probbable set of handlebars and the helmet destroyed humping this now 3 wheeler 4 miles out of the woods up and down hills, ruts, mud, hot, dusty, sweaty, thirsty... now sore...Man what a sucka** day!

That's why most people that have experience with them refer to them as Durabreak.

Your headache is not over. Wait until you try to get it replaced under their warranty.

Maniac, check out my post about my LoneStar axel. The story starts out rather scary, but turns out happy in the end. Hope you have the same luck!

Raptor74LV, I was following your post. Glad to see you got it sorted out. I gave Durablue a call today and so far there are no issues but I do have receipt and warranty card.

Yes, but it will cost you about $20 to send it to them and then it will come back COD for another $20. That is what it cost on my free replacememt and the the next is $175 for replacement.

tprenders, you are absolutely correct. hope this isn't a frequent happening. I don't think I thumped the tree very hard. I know I've abused the factory axle much more and it didn't break. Slighlty bent but at least it got me back to the truck! Looking at the axle and the fracture point I belive it was a defective axle. I would be lying if I said that I felt real confident in the durablue axle's strength and quality. Time will tell.

Mine was a new axle that I was putting on and the end of the axle fell off. I did not even get to ride on it. They told me that I over tigthen the nut to much. When I got the replacement axle I rode with it one day and it wobbled so I took it off and sold it. Put my stock one back on.
