The injection system on the blaster is supposed to give a 100:1 mixture at idle and a 32:1 mixture at full throttle.

Well it maybe would if it were an adjustable style, cable operated or centrifugal driven style (torque converter). But the fact is since it is a gear pump that runs directly off the crank gear it must pump the same amount. So lets say the gear ratio is 2:1 (two turns of the crank is one turn of the pump) no matter how fast the engine spins this ratio stays the same.
Where on the snowmobile style injector or like the Polaris sports where the throttle cable also runs the injector the more you open the throttle thee more it opens the injector. That is how you get the different injector ratios at idle and WOT

Hardly is right. The pump is driving via a gear off the crank. The ratio of the crank speed to pump speed doesn't change during the entire rpm range, thus giving a constant mixture reguardless of the rpm. Like Hardly said, it doesn't have a cable operated mixture control valve to regulate the flow of oil to the carb. As for piston life, I would run it until the compression drops, then replace it.

BTW, Hardly and 2fun, whatcha doin here?

hardly is right, your pump does turn faster as you rev it, but you use more fuel also, compensating for the extra oil

Yeah...sure does

BTW I also used to tow a fair bit with my blaster and even had a trailer hitch on it for years and hauled everything from broken down snomobiels to stove wood on slieghs in the winter. My camp trailer was made out of a large car topper/luggage tote and had an aluminum frame with atv wheels.
The hitch was a 4" dia. 6' long piece of heavy steel pipe split in half and bracket welded on so it could be bolted onto the bearing carrier. worked like a charm

Guys i have a 99 blaster thats been run pretty good. i know the guys that put the hours on it he didnt abuse it but it wasnt cut much slack. Its got some really bad piston slap. now when i ride it for around 2 laps on our track at about 4-5-6 wide open it will start the bog, u can pull the choke hit the gas switch 2 reserve but it still stops. then after a few kicks it restarts but then it does it again after another 2 laps or so. the piston slap is getting bad and for sum reason it will seem like the mix changes all of the sudden because it will run clean without much smoke like normall then it acts like it gets way 2 much oil and it smokes heaily. i know its a 2 smoke but it doesnt seem normall. i know i needa bore to fix piston slap so who makes a good 240 kit????. anybody sell an oil injector rebuild kit????

Thanks

Ryan

Just get the oil injection block-off kit, and mix the gas yourself.

Go with a new bore, piston, and rings.

If you want better power, look into having a reliable motor builder port the cylinder for you. He may also want to shave the head to bump up compression a little.

you rebuild if you lose compression or you blow it up. I blew mine up 2wice. bored .20 over now. But other than that a stock blaster doesnt run to high HP so piston wear is minimal
