does any one know how much time it would take to install a transmission in a 93 banshee. also is it very complicated.

I am about to buy a 93 banshee it runs good but it only has 1st gear left the rest of the gears won't work. i am assuming that it needs a transmission am i correct.do you think that $500 would be a good price for this atv.

IMO, the Banshee is a piece of cake to split the cases. Take the case bolts out and roll the top end forward with the crank alltogether! That baby splits horizontally! No top end gaskets needed (asuming you are not in need of a top end refreshing).
If it starts easily with a couple of kicks and is'nt destroyed, it's worth it in my opinion. Nit-pick the atv and try too work down from $500.

When you say they don't work, are they stripped? Does it just not want to shift? If it just doesn't shift, it could be as simple as the stud on the shifting mechanism is broke off, shift fork bent, shift rod bent, shift star bolt backed out, or etc. Where are you located? If you don't by it, I will be interested if it is close.
