I have been to the drag strip a few times on my Raptor and have run what I figured to be normal times, but then I came on here and did a search and they seem WAY off. This past week the best I could do was a 9.8 @ 65.6 MPH. The best ever was a 9.7 @ 65 back when my clutch was going. When I searched I saw people running in the 8.9-9.3 range at like 69 mph on their Raptors with basic pipe/jetting, also DS650's running high 8's low 9's at close to 70mph. I have the GYTR pipe, Dynojet kit, no lid, Sparks timing advance and 20" Razr's on the back. Is it my 60 ft. times that are the problem, they are in the 2.2-2.3 range?

your 60 foot times are one thing that is killing you. What is your gearing? we run 14/40. With the mods you have it may not help but it will help your 60 ftt times beause you can come out of the hole more controlled. I don't have much faith in the advance key but that is IMO. Last year with a GYTR silencer, D/J jet kit and 13/40 gears, we were getting 9.2 with about the same 2.1 to 2.3 60 foot times. We also were running the stock tires that I think are lighter than the razors. We are now running 5.5, 62.5 mph in 330 feet with 2.0 60 foot times. Our local track will not give us 1/8 miles runs and we don't know why. There is another track we will be going to that will give all times up to 1/4 mile. Next to come is a wheelie bar and Hooser tires. We hope to get a lot lower ET's.

Hey Ward. Maybe you need to add a few teeth in the back or drop 1 or 2 in the front for faster take offs. Maybe your clutch is the problem too, my clutch was adjusted wrong on my Shee and it made a night and day difference when I corrected the adjustment. Maybe try to find a similar Rap and see what he is getting for the 8th mile. BTW, how do you get into 8th mile strip racing? Thanks..

Yea the 60' times are slow.
How are you launching?
Do you bogg of the line? Wheelie? spin the tires?
Are you using a wheelie bar or solid struts on the front?

My gearing is stock 13/40, no wheelie bar or anything. I am riding the clutch 2/3 of the way through 1st gear just to keep the front end down. Spin the tires???? What did you forget what ATV we're talkin about here??

The 9.7 run was actually made with a 14t front sprocket a few months back, I guess it helped keep the front end down slightly, but still 2.2 60 fts. With the 13t I am shifting into 3rd gear about 75ft before the 1/8th mile line. The problem with the 14t is that you basically had to shift just before you crossed the line and it killed the MPH (63-64).

Put some front struts Like these on. It'll really help keep the front end down
THe next step is a Wheelie bar would be the next step.
It's your launch that's hurting you.
With these mods you should get a 2.0~1.9 60'

i have seen alot of raptors race the 1/8. my friend has a raptor that is stock witha filter and slip on pipe that runs 9.50's. hes been the fastest raptor at the track so far. a 400z ran a low 10 in the 1/8, the cannondale very high 9. i don't know if these drivers are very good or not but these times is what i have seen.

i've ran both of my DS's and my more or less stock bike ran 8.6's at 73mph and my RWR DS ran a 7.50 at 86MPH. i have only meet up with one banshee that has ran faster than my DS in the 1/8.(SO FAR) i run stock gearing on the stock bike(16F,40R) and 18F,40R on the faster bike. i will be putting a 20tooth front on with 22" tires when my leg gets better. i'm not running a wheelie bar and on the faster bike i'm useing a +6 swingarm. it still comes up but it helps.

i would gear your raptor as high as you can without it boggin. it seems to help the DS's out.

Dont forget that on a quad rider weight actually matters a great deal. Maybe your bigger than the people posting their times on the message board.

So you're trying to tell me Raptors, Cannondales and Z400's run high 9's to low 10's and the DS runs 8.6? I don't understand that. I saw a DS at the track (dunno if it was stock or not) running like a 9.8 or 9.9.

no i'm not saying that, my DS that ran a 8.6 wasn't completly stock. it was on alcohol and had a custom pipe(stock pipe new end cap and flow coated.) it had the stock piston and cams. the only after market part on the bike was rev box and carb. this bike runs very well. Roostonyou on this forum came down and raced with me one weekend he ran a 8.8. he has a ported head andpiston and cams. his clutchs where slipping.

i have no clue what a bone stock DS would run. i'm the only DS guy around my part of the woods. stock and piped banshee are not very fast either.
