IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THING AS A FAST WARRIOR?

Is there anyting you can bolt on to a warrior to give it a good top end?I have k/n filter jet kit,e series pipe on my daughters warrior and she still b!tches about lack of power on top,im putting one together for my youngest son and was wondering if there is some more inexpensive mods i can do,what about those Keinin carbs, anyone have one? I guess they are spoiled from riding my ds650.I got them there own quads so they dont rag mine out.Last weekend my older son was on her warrior and got beat by a BLASTER!!!! Is that normal? maybe i should have bought blasters,i thought warriors were faster.Anyway give me some tips.

High compression piston, wicked camshaft, bigger carb, port the head/bigger valves, will make it one very mean little machine, then if you got some more dough get a 500+cc kit added to that and they wont be asking to ride the DS any more. Of course I dont really know what that kind of power would do to the tranny and chain. Prolly bomb the tranny and stretch the chain to heck, but youd have fun doin it.
My serious suggestion is to the high compression piston and a top end cam, that should do a whole lot and if its not enough get the head ported.
And as for a fast warrior, I saw one with an R1 motor on ebay, he said it ran hot and kept you welding on the frame day in and day out. Proffesional job too but he said they didnt stand behind it when the motor started to murder the frame.
P.S. Im getting the piston/cam package prolly from alba or highlifter pretty soon, ill tell yah if its worth it and if you go first you can tell me.

Nothing bolt-on will make big improvements top end. Some gearing changes might improve top end speed if it will pull it. As JakalWarrior says the biggest improvement top end would be higher compression piston and cam (which usually requires stiffer springs) and would be the next step up after a pipe, and intake improvments. No matter what you do it will never compare to the DS on a flat out pull.

I guess alot of you guys don't ride in the woods...do you? Top speed doesn't mean crap when weaving through trees...it all boils down to skill. I think the Warrior is a pretty good machine for the woods but it seems like alot of guys want them to be sand draggsters...I don't think Yamaha designed them for that. Get some used Banshees and they probably won't complain!

i agree with mascman...the warrior in the woods should be fast enough with pipe and jetting...i would'nt drag my warrior even for laughs...it's sad. if you riding in the open...maybe you should have bought the blaster.

I'm another to attest to what Mascman said. Contrary to my handle, I ride mostly mountain trails, lots of major up and down, rocks, ruts, roots, cliffs, etc. It has bottom end grunt to spare for that application (after WB E-series pipe, K&N, Pro-Flow, DynoJet, and changing the front sprocket).
Take it to the dunes though, and it is lacking, even with the more inexpensive bolt on type mods. It's no slouch.... was able to go flying over the top of Competition Hill (Whoahink, OR) in front of a few other quads, but I think it was only cuz I'm 114 pounds, and happened to be lucky enough to get a better start off the line, but the tricked out 2-strokes will walk all over it .
Different machines for different intended purposes. If you try and make a Warrior more like a Banshee, you lose some of the great performance the Warrior has to offer. If you try and make a Banshee more like a Warrior, I bet the same would be true (don't know that for sure, cuz I don't have mine yet : )
I was also trying to put together fairly inexpensive ways to increase my top end (without getting into the engine), but since most of my riding requires a lot of grunt and the Warrior works so well in that situation, I guess I'll just have to save my $$ and do the Banshee thing for dune screamin!

Don't get me wrong guys. I agree with mascman. I also ride mostly woods, hills, rocks kind of stuff. I have no doubt that if riding in these types of conditions with a DS650, I'd be right on his a** if not the other way around. In my opion taking a perfectly good Warrior and attempting to turn it into a sand drag machine is a waste of good money. Start with the right quad if that is your intention.

Warriormaniac: Bingo.
I turn better times on my warrior in the woods than on my Raptor. the raptor is setup for track but i have spare tires and mods i switch for trail riding. the raptor is actually to much...i'm trying to ride fast yet hold back the crazy ponies...not easy to do and even less forgiving.
the warrior on the ther hand...i ride all f'n out...when the trail becomes riddled with rocks...i roll over them on the raptor...but on the warrior it's full throttle and hang on.
why? the power is more managable...plus warriors are built like Hum-Vees.

Yeah, much more power just wouldnt be aplicable for the woods. Mine already lifts the front tires up in second gear in almost any rpm range, which gets me in trouble a lot in the woods. I think, hey lets floor it all the way up this hill, then the wheels come up and its OHH... sheet... and barely miss a tree. Thats with stock gearing and 22's which are aired up to be about 23s or 24s. Drag race? I wouldnt even bother, I weigh alot, my fourwheeler weighs alot, it just aint happening. I can make up a good bit with shifting and clutching tecnique but it still aint happeneing. Only reason I want the cam and piston is just to **** people off. Cam and piston should be good for 30 hp (high end cam and high compression piston), isint a stock raptor 33?, add some porting to that cam and piston and im zooming in on 40 hp which could really make some people go WTF did a warrior just roost me up this hill? Its all the sleeper factor. I did the same thing with my paintball gun, bought a 120 dollar gun then put all my time and money into the internal parts that u cant see, valves, and porting and stuff. End product maybe isint as good as you could have had with a better starting point but you had a lot more fun and you learn a whole lot getting there, plus the look on peoples faces is worth it.
