I agree about having managable power on the trails, its probally a good thing the warriors arent faster, then my kidS might get into an accident.I think they are just spoiled, never fully satisfied.

ps While you warrior riders are here maybe you can help me with a warrior problem.I just finished putting together a 98 warrior i got cheap that some guy i know crashed when it was only 6 months old,he never fixed it and just bought a new one.I got it for 500.00 but it was stripped, plastics, tires ,ect. ect.Thats all finished. It will run perfect untill you really get on it then it cuts out like its in a rev limiter, when you let off a little bit its fine,i checked the timing, tried rejetting,4 or 5 times,[that got it running] i even took my daughters carb off her perfect running warrior and it did the same thing. It has around 100 hours on it tops.I cant figure it out.TELL ME SOMETHING GUYS,i just spend all weekend tring to figure it out,NEXT STEP, the yammi dealer, then that will be the end of my [GOOD DEAL] THANKS IN ADVANCE

No, a friend of mine wasted alot of money on his warrior trying to bet a stock Banshee and never came close! I cant believe yamaha still makes and sell the Warrior it only a 350cc 4 stroke, old technology in todays market.

Hmm.. could it be so people can have a low cost sport machine? Same reason car companies make things like the mustand and corvete while others are making lambos and ferraris. I believe its called market diversification or something like that. Every man to his own. Besides if i ever do get a new quad im keeping my warrior, it always starts and goes and is perfect for the woods.
Besides if old technology sucks why is a tiny 250cc two stroke still the best around? Simple, when you get it right, its just right. Well talk about high tech whenever they come out with a 300cc wankel ,turbocharged 90 hp quad with a 0% power loss cvt, independent rear supension, electronicaly controlled shocks, tip recovery sensors, jump trajectory stabalizers, and a total weight of 300lbs. In the mean time their adding frills to an crappy archaic design. Heck even the wankel is outdated but its illegal to not burn oil dont yah know.

Dang im way O/T

99Banshee, Yamaha still builds the Warrior because people still buy them. They are still a very competative machine all things considered. Quality, cost, good reputation etc...

I recently bought an '03 Warrior, and I test drove everything they would let me. I actualy chose the Warrior because it wasn't the fastest. I know that this is getting off topic, but I ride trails, and hills, and occasionally jump on the track. I am 6'2", and 200lbs, and I am very comfortable on the warrior. No I am not boring, my other ride is a CR500! I just like to ride and climb. This quad is actually more fun to jump than the CR though. Basically what I am saying is buy what your comfortable with to fit you needs. My Warrior is stock now, skid plates are on their way, then it will be the pipe and filter. But for the next couple years I am just going to ride the heck out of it. Sorry just my .02.

Hang on Im not Bashing the Warrior at all! Its not ment to be fast its ment to trail ride and climb! A friend of mine spent a couple thousands dollars on this Warrior, Cam, piston, pipe, head work, Air filter, carb, shocks etc.and was very unhappy with the performance, burned it up trying to stay up with us! finally gave up and bought a used Banshee because he wanted to go fast and I thought that you said fast on the topic! My point was with all the new quads out there like the 400EX, 400Z and the 660R etc... all electric start and reverse with all updated everything! it would be like buying a car without power steering, EFI, or a FM radio!
And yes my Quad is Dated, But its a 2 Stroke the last of the high performance 2 stroke quads, and i just love the smell of premix! it hangs right there with the best of them and it's payed for! So i can save up to buy a new Snowmobile this winter a F7 Firecat! To the answer the question about the 250R It's a Honda! Honda doesn't make anything bad and never will.

I knew that you weren't bashing the Warrior, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in for the Warrior. My warrior is electric start, by the way, I don't know if they weren't in the early 90's or not. I also love the Honda's, my dirtbike is a Honda. Anyway, as stated in previous post I knew I was getting off topic, just wanted to express my enjoyment of the Warrior.

Default IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THING AS A FAST WARRIOR?

u need to spend some time and $ to get them realy tuned, like i did 400cc kit, hotcam kit, port polished, scorpion pipe, k$n, quick silver carb, stock size renthal sprockets, high rpm cdi box "1000rpm" razor 2 tires on shamrock rims, elka shox, durablue stock size rear axle, lone star +2 a-arms

i had a buddy follow me in his camaro, i hit 70 and my crankshaft bearing blew so now its in the shop gettting new bearings high rpm this time, if u have the money it can be 1 fast antique!

Yes, when I'm riding mine next to my Wolverine it seems to be a bit quicker.
It really is a great woods machine but when the trails are rutted out from all the big bore 4x4's and there's water and mud everywhere you look I take the Wolverine.
I usually only ride through the Winter since I'm camping every weekend and on the Harleys through the nice months, but I'm looking forward to a few Summer rides on the Warrior this year.
