Well I will be buying my first atv this fall and still a little undecided. I think they are pretty close in performance wise and they are all in my price range, or more importantly my wife's price range. lol. I need someone to push me over the edge keeping in mind my 2 favorite aspects: speed and mud! Any input would be appreciated.

I was having a hard time choosing between the Kodiak and the Wolverine a few weeks ago when I was looking. I ended up with the Kodiak because it had the option of switching in and out of four wheel drive (a lot less wear and tear on the front tires, cv joint etc), it had better mud protection, I liked the auto tranny, and it is a nimble handling quad. The wolverine steered a lot harder and just felt too outdated to me. I would definately make sure to ride any of the bikes you are interested in, I was 99% sure I was going with the wolverine until I drove the Kodiak and changed my mind. I have had my Kodiak about three weeks now and do not regret buying it one bit.

If the Wolverine had an unlocker and 50 more cc I would buy it today. Can't imagine getting a 4wd without an unlocker though. No way.

You can buy an unlocker for the Wolverine from the aftermarket at highlifter.com.

Reading the title of this post, though reminds me of that old Sesame street game when they would sing "one of these things is not like the other..." The Wolverine is really not in the same class as the other two. Think of it as a 4 wheel drive sport machine and the other two as sporty utility machines and you're closer to the mark.

If the emphasis will be on sport and play, consider the Wolverine. You'll get coated in the mud because, like a true sport machine there is minimal protection. If the emphasis is on mudding, I'd look at the other two, more so at the Kodiak but I've not really compared them.

I'm kinda looking for a sport machine myself and am considering the Wolverine because I think of it as a 4wd sport.
