Raptor ignition coils

Has anyone tried a different ignition coil. I have not been able to find a CDI kit with a coil and I don't have a problem with the rev limiter in the factory box. Just don't have enough spark!!!!
What spark plug gap is being used with 12:1 compression on a 686??
