The age old riddle, Why does a Warrior clack, new Answer
#1
All this time ive been expecting my engine to grenade because of the light knock/clack and cla clack when u kill it but then someone on another forum (typed the name in but it was a forbidden word) tells me its all because of the one way bearing yamaha used in the engine. I will sleep a whole lot better now. Mostly because he says all warriors do it and everyone else i let ride mine swears they dont hear a thing, NOW I HAVE PROOF IT IS MAKING A SOUND!!

The noise is the one way bearing on the starter clutch. You hear this sound when you kill the engine or stall it.
Don't think it is normal though. Although they all seem to make the noise, it is not supposed to be and the number of one way bearings that are replaced on the Warriors proof there is a problem here...... despite Yamaha overlooking the problem for 15 years now.
This is also a problem on Raptor engines.
It only takes time and a stall at the right time to spell disaster for the starter clutch.
I'm not saying these bikes are junk. They are far from it.
All models regardless of brand have their faults. This just happens to be one for Yamaha.

Yamaha had a service bulleten out on that a few years ago, I guess they also had problems with the 600's. I don't know if they were refering to the raptors or if they have any other 600cc bike. Anyway what they reccomended that you do is if a bearing falls out is to flip it over. Make sure that you have it in the right way but you can flip it over. Sometimes this took care of the clunking sound.
