i think you got a pretty good price, ive visited my dealer several times in the last month trying to get the best price on a new kodiak 450 and only with threats of going to another dealership did i finally manage to cut a deal. the pricing goes as follows 5699 + 69(WINCH)=5768 X .07(SALESTAX)=6171.76 this price included installation on the winch and he threw in a set of 47.99 gun holders for the front rack. this is the same one you got realtree camo. did you have to haggle very much or was the price set in stone with your dealer? they tell me there is not much mark up on these machines, what do you think?

Sounds like a good deal to me. I just paid $5700 + $150 Freight & Setup, + $69 winch, plus Pa. sales tax for mine last week. I got mine in red because my wifes 400 Kodiak is Camo and everyone knows red 4-wheelers are faster

Kodiak450,
Sounds like you got a great deal! I paid the same but in red and thought it was good. I also got the winch deal and added the plow less the manual lift (saved $70-$80 or something). The handlebar switch is great. I have it on the left side and can use it with my left thumb without moving my hand from the handle bar.

I guess I got a decent deal even with no haggleing...this is my 4th Yamaha atv and second with him and he's always treated me right. Watch out for your cv boots popping off, I just got mine fixed today and last week my friends grizzly's boot popped off. Although I like the Kodiak alot, I've since spent alot of time on a new grizzly and am amazed at the power and RIDE!!! For high speed trial riding I'd pick the Grizz... putting around, farm type work, and slow speed tight stuff the 450 does just fine and actually outdoes the grizzly at certain things. Would I have still bought the Kodiak over the grizz now? Probably not because of the awesome ride, but I won't sell the 450 to get a grizzly, I'll keep it for the wife and get a grizzly for myself.

Sounds like a real good deal to me. I have a 02 Kodiak and love it. It has more power than I will ever need and I'll never know how fast it will go. My pucker factor on that short wheelbase is 45mph and that seemed like 100mph. The Grizz is a$$ kicking awesome! I would have got the Grizz myself but it would not fit in the bed of my old Ram 1500 with the topper on and the Kodiak would. That was really important to me. Well the Ram died and thankfully the Kodiak barely fits in the Tundra's shortbed with no room to spare. I wish I had the 450's front locker system also.

When I bought my wife the 400 kodiak I knew she would use it only for trail riding. I went with a 450 for myself for a better machine when I need to do some utility work. The grizzly is a great machine from everything I have heard about it but it is a bigger machine than what I wanted. We ride in some very tight woods and the kodiak actually performs better here than the grizzly. To be honest both machines are only a few weeks old so I cannot give any reliability info. I can say they both ride and handle better than our old quads, a honda recon and a honda 300 2x4 utility.

dbare, someone over on another forum was telling me he parked his 450 kodiak on an angled incline ,got off to move an object in his way and the machine rolled over on him 3 . times. he seems to think the tires are to blame. although he admitted he is somewhat of an inexperienced rider. i asked how steep the incline was but, havn't gotten a responce yet. also asked if he had proper air pressure, still waiting to find out. i did find this interesting though. do you have maxxis tires on yours and if so do they seem alright traction and handling anyway?
