Default Should I be upset?

My local shop wants to charge me almost $80 to drop in valve springs for me. Now I know exactly what this involves and it is not worht 80 bones. I know these places make money hand over fist so why do they have to rape us on the small stuff also? Should I be upset or is that just the way of the world?

2 hours work at $40 per hour is $80.

Take off the front plastic, fuel tank, and valve cover yourself. Offer them $40 to install the springs for you.

Thats nuts! Take the $80 and go buy yourself a valve spring compressor. When I first read it I was thinking $80 isn't bad to put in new valve springs, you know plastic, head, and all that. Since you already have it off that is just pure craziness.

Yeah that what I was thinking. " The whole job could be done in 5 minutes. " Those were the words of the parts manager. I was thinking cool. Then He bring me a paper to sign saying 77.82 or something like that. I took my parts and left, then came he to consult.

So did they do it and then you found out how much, or was the paper just a quote?
