I have ran rubber tipped float needles before with alcohol. The limiting factor will be dump tube size and adjustablility of the stock carbs. If you want power, why not start with cam, head work, high compression, carbs, pipe, etc. You won't get the full effect of alky if you are running a stock setup. If everything else is built, why not drop a couple more dollars for some decent carbs?

I think a stock raptor on alcohol would run pretty darn close with a 686 raptor(on gas). I speak this from past experience. A friend was running side by side with a 686 at Little Sahara(sometime ago) and his is just had a FMF slip on, and alky(WITH THE STOCK CARBS). My question is WHY pay 600-900 dollars or whatever the price for the after market carbs? Spend that money wisely somewhere else.

I agree with this except I haven't seen a $600 carb for the raptor yet.

Ward...a set of FCR's cost over a grand and the edelbrock set-up is about $6-650. Back too the main question....yes I have seen alhohol spilled on Raptor carbs.....they came through it fine.

For alcohol to run at it's full potential you need high compression. The higher the better

I have an idea for the fastest Raptor ever, you take a Raptor 80, bore it out to 120, run it on Nitro Methanol, and NOS. Then add a turbo. Put a custom cam shaft and a wicked pop top piston . Next take about 20 F size model rocket engines and mount them on the frame in metal tubes. Pull up to the starting line in a clown suit and murder everyone.

On a more serious note (although I would LOVE to see the above mentioned). How much is alcahol per gallon and dosent it keep the engine cooler?

I didn't know the Edelbrock set-up was that cheap. Do you know anybody that used it?

Jakal I don't know how much it is, I get it FREE. Yes it does help the engine to run cooler.

Edit: would it be easier or better to use a power jet for the alky rather than drilling jets out?
