"J" or "A" arms
I have an 85 Honda Fourtrax 250. That has J arms they are the worst handling suspention ever. My First 4 wheeler was an 84 Honda Fourtrax 200 nice mechine i liked it but i hated the way it handled. Now everything has A arms so i dont think the J arms worked out too well. So if you are going to buy something with J arms i might think twice about it. The names of the A arm and the J arm kind of explain their self. An A arm comes off the frame in two places. At the bottom of the A. At the bottom of the A there are pivots then on the top of the A the shock connects. With the J arms there are big bushings on the front of the frame and that is the only place the J arm pivits. and at the top of the J the shock connects. It seems like a very poor design.

"J" or "A" arms
I have an old 87 Shee that handles great with those "oh so horrible" j-arms. The bottom is an A-arm, and top is a J. It doesnt handle any different than any other quad Ive ridden. I guess its just the looks, or to me it is. Only problem with em is trying to explain to others what the heck it is.

Piranha,
Thanks for the link.
I see where the upper link/J arm is now. Where as on the newer banshees there is the upper a/arm.
Did someone or yamaha make a retro kit for the older banshees if the owner wanted to update to an A/arm?
Looks like it would be easy to do if you know a good welder unless I am missing something I can't see in the picture.
