Well I traded in the Big Bear yesturday and got my '98 Banshee. All I can say is this, HOLY SH$%!! I love my Banshee!!!!!!! This thing is sooooo powerful, its not even funny. I'm having way too much fun! Can any Banshee owners give me some maintanance tips to keep it running strong for a long time? Also, I changed my username to CeetBanshee so I won't be using BigBear4X471 any more.

I've had my Banshee for about 3 months and I just absoluty love it. My friend told me some of the basics to keep it running good. Keep good transmission oil in it. Clean your air filter regulary. Keep good spark plugs. Good clean antifreeze and water, and just run the **** out of it.

Right on Banshee's sceam I've owned 5 i have a 97 right now and it has a CT racing ProX cylinder and a long line of race mods...
if you stay stock you'll stay fairly trouble free as long as you pay attention to your airfilter, matter of fact most frequent riders that clean the air filter often change over to an adapter and clamp on filter system,I use them and wouldn't be without.oh and k&n filters are not the best all around filter wet conditions are tough on them...
Change oil frequently and use quality oil of proper weight

grease all the fittings and follow the maint.instructions in the owners manual

use yamalube 2R pre-mix and mix accurately

always check the seal of the carbs they leak and meltdown motors
i could go on but you get the idea.....

and keep your chains cleaned oiled and adjusted

good luck

yep, that's all good advice. personally, i try to keep my banshee as stock as possible. i've heard so many horror stories of people working them over, then they're nothing but trouble if mods arent' done properly. the thing is pretty dang fast stock. also, if it still has them, i would replace the TORS units on the carb tops with a standard straight cable replacement.

Im like you Ceet Banshee. I bought a 99 Banshee, hardly used for $4800, pretty good deal in my opinion. I have not picked it up yet, (hopefully tomorrow) but having ridden a couple of stock and slightly moded machines, I can tell you that I am going to be in heaven next week! My only planned mods for this season will be pipes (either Toomeys or FMF's (advice needed)) a Pro Design filter adapter,
and of course the TORS removal. Then Im just gonna ride the heck out of it! I cant wait. You should see my cube at work. Banshees just roostin and ridin hard, giving me some inspiration!!! HAve fun,

i must say regarding pipes the TOOMEY T-5 pipes are head and shoulders above the rest....
FMF pipes are overrated and don't produce the gains of the T-5 and the FMF pipes are not as nice a fit either ,seemed like i was always burning myself on them. T-5's fit great without any fender trimming and work better than any other i've owned

PaulTurner makes really good Banshee pipes also but i recommend TOOMEY'S

Use top of the line synthetic 2troke oil. I used to ride moto cross in the early 80's and had to do a lot af top end jobs then someone put me on to "Belray oil" which was exspensive(Not sure if they are still around)and it but my piston popping days to a end.I must guess there is even better oil out nowadays.

Thanks for the advice guys!! I'm using Honda HP2 racing oil mix right now, my dealer said it was a good oil. It costs $5.95 a quart, how much better and more expensive is Yamalube 2R? I'm planning on keeping my Banshee pretty stock, I'm adding a pro filter system and maybe k&n filters, plus FMF or Toomey pipes. What are these things on top of the carbs? Does it hurt to leave them on? And are they hard to take off? I love my Banshee, I'll never go back to any other quad again!!! Thanks guys!!
