Project Blaster...second engine...suggestions?
#1
A buddy of mine is researching the following situation. He has an early Blaster, totally custom. He's got hydraulic disk brakes all around, 240cc kit, and he's grafted a water cooled cylinder to the stock Blaster lower end. This thing runs beutifully, and looks clean. He's a senior bio-mechanical engineer at Baxter Pharmaceutical and has TONS of natural talent. The next leg of his project includes fitting a four-stroke engine to the chassis for trail duty. Natural first intentions included YZ 426, or related performance options. I told him it's not worth the time and effort, just to go buy a Raptor, or wait for Yamaha's new 400 class that everybody is talking about. But he wants something different...that hasn't been done a dozen times before. I know Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki all have performance minded 4 stroke mid-size engines in dirt-bikes, but how about Yamaha? How long do you suppose it will be before you can find used or salvaged 250F engines from the new MX bike? Has Yamaha produced a mid-size 4-stroke dirt-bike in the past that we are missing? Coaxing more HP out of a mild engine won't be a problem, he used to work at a performance shop and still builds racing engines himself. He's gone wider and longer than stock, with performance suspension, so handling is up to par, but still doesn't want to go overkill with a XT 600. So...anyone have any info?

No, i dont mind you asking, i didnt meen it that way....
Well, over here in this war zone of a country, we have the most f***'d up rules you can think of, for example, ALL atv's must have roll bars, you have to have a license to drive it (and our driving age is 17 1/2!), it has to be registered in the dmv, and all the quads come from the factory with all the things you need to make your quad steet legal. plus all motocross bikes are elegal, all sorts of racing where you measure time is also elegal.
well, theas are f***'d up lawes, but hey, it a f***'d up world.

it seems to me that a roll bar would make a quad more dangerous seeing how if i'm gonna eat s#!t i usually bail off. a roll bar wouldn't do any good unless you had a full seat and a belt, right? anyway, thanks for setteling my curiousity!

I've only ridden a 426 once, but I've talked a number of 250f and 426 owners - they don't seem to really have any low end - they're designed to compete with the 250 2-strokes - runs like any indy car.
To me, a tricked out CR500 motor would be fun. Now how can I graft that onto the wolverine?

Motors I will suggest for serious fun:
RD400 40-50hp
RZ350 60-65hp
RZ500 (you wont find one) 85-90hp
And you really want to have some scared people standing around find a V twin street bike engine. That would sound friggen awesome and scare the heck out of people if there were a way to fit it in there.
Option 3: get on ebay and type in motorcycle engine or start throwing out diferent numbers with cc behind them
