Raptor resurrection (pics), parts needed
#1
Well, my father brought the 2003 Raptor to my house this weekend so that we could begin the rebuild from its nasty full throttle accident a little over a month ago. I must say, it was a much harder hit than I imagined. The throttle stuck wide open, and hit a tree hard into the right A-arms. Check out the following web site for some pictures and how it looks now with the new powder coated frame.

We found a few more parts were bent than we had initially thought, so I have a short list that we really need if you know anyone that might have them laying around:
Radiator
Front Right spindle (with or without hub)
1 Tie Rod End
It is truly amazing that the rider actually walked away from this accident, the frame was so bent around the engine, that we almost had to cut the frame to get it out.
We are super excited to get it back together!

It was a plastic trim screw, from what, I don't know. It looks as if the screw was for holding two pieces of plastic together. You know, put the plastic lug through both layers of plastic, then tighten down the center screw that spread the lug and holds the pieces of plastic together.
Wierd eh? The investigator said that it was a piece of packaging material, and that the air cleaner had worked its way loose, and somehow the had gotten in there and wedge between the butterfly's.

We had the frame powder coated a candy blue to contrast the black and the blue in the 03' decals.... it looks sweet. We thought about doing all black since it is an SE or LE or whatever, but the idea of a nice shiny contrasting color sounded good.
The subframe and other small bits will be coated by the end of this week.
Matt, thanks for the suggestion, do you have a number or a web address?

All I have to say is: Ebay is your friend.
Some times it takes a while to find just he part you need and you almost end up bidding too much. Dont get stuck in that trap. AHHH finally a radiatior, but he wants my left arm..... might as well, will be a while till I see a new one. NO bad idea.
Also you will end up with stff you dont need. I have a bunch of steel braided brake hoses for a banshee/warrior and a rear master cylinder all the front brake lines, and even front master cylinder with lever all because I wanted the rear brake calliper and the price for just it was well worth it.
