lowering a raptor
#1
What all goes into lowering a raptor. I am thinking about getting one maybe next spring and I know that I will want it lowered for tight trail riding. Right now they seem to high and tipsy in stock form. Is there an easy kit or is it going to cost an arm and leg.

There are a few ways but the most used method is the lowering blocks for the front which push your shocks toward the wheels and for the rear a lengthened link to lower the rear shock were it attaches to the swingarm. Total cost apx. $130.00 from the stealers and maybe $90.00 from somebody on eBay.

I have ran lowering kits on my banshee on trails. They work great. The only problem is you increase the distance between the shock link and the swingarm. This makes the link lower to the ground, and it will drag. On the trails I ride, there are a few steep hills and tabletops. I would drag the link when I tried to go up or down them, so I finally took the kit off. Raptors might not be as bad though.

also, when using those blocks in the front. (the ones which push out your shocks) you have to relocate one clamp for the front a-arm guards. (VERY VERY VERY EASY!!!!!!)

Wont hurt it a bit, just remember you've lost allot of your travel and not to go hammering it off any doubles or anything.
