GRIZZLY WILL NOT SHIFT !!!!
#1
Hello All,
I have a 2000 Grizzly, I went out to ride today and the Grizzly will not go in to any forward gear. Everything worked fine the last time I used it. It will back up but will not go in to low or high. It is like there is something stopping the shifter, I took off the plastic cove where the shifter linkage is and nothing in the way. PLEASE HELP I want to ride...
Thanks Vance

It is COLD for sure here. Where do I try and heat it? I took off the shifte ball and boot to look inside and see if anything was wrong in there. Looked okay. I also took off the plastic cover that covers the shifter rod from the shifter to the case in the reat all looked good there to.
Thanks for your reply!!!!!!!

My buddies 99 Grizz does the same thing. It wouldn't shift in the cold. We took it apart and found nothing. Heard somewhere about the cold issue. We stuck a hair dryer on it for a couple of minutes, and bingo. Once you ride it for a couple minutes, the engine heat will keep it from happening again.....for that ride. Try it and let us know. I've been wrong before, just telling you my personal experience.

My kodiak didn't want to shift in the cold either (the shifter would move, but the bike would not!)
Just the heat from the motor will be enough to heat it up, leave it in neutral, or if you're in a hurry get a hair dryer and heat everything in the general area.
Speaking of yamaha's, and freezing, my choke always freezes!! what a pain!!!

No kidding???
I wanted to get a Kodiak450 next spring. We ride alot in the winter here in Minnesota and it does get a bit below the freezing point. Maybe I should reconsider?
No such problem with present bikes.
