Default Raptor upgrades?

I am getting a Raptor 660R (or should i get something else?)
I just wanted to know what i need to upgrade right away, what is a must, or what is most important.
I mostly ride on flat or go into the forest with really rough terrain. (i live in Russia...)
Please tell me what the upgrades do and where they go.
Thnx.

4bsolut,

Welcome to the ATV Connections forums.

Russia, that sounds very interesting.

You could just try it stock for a while. My 01 Raptor is as stock as the day I purchased it and still enjoy the machine.

Make modifications later.

Chet

RUSSIA?!!! Thats awesome...I wanna ride Russia
what is the market like over there? Lots of quads? Racing? Is it almost impossible to get aftermarket stuff?
sorry for posting questions instead of answers
modify your bike after you have ridden it, many decide that stock exhaust has to go immediatly, I needed suspension

enjoy your bike

The market is bad, the atvs here cost about $13,000 for 500 to 700 cu.
I am getting my in usa and also aftermarket parts, no racing really, but theres alot of places for riding (forest, valleys)

So what exhaust do u recommend, suspension? or other stuff? what companie do u recommend?

Get an HMF or White Brothers full system (Just my preference) and get some new tires and your cruising till you get bored with it and want more, which may never happen depending on the rider. That holds true for pretty much all quads. If I were you though I would try a banshee too, they are wicked fun and if you got lots of grassy hills and plains and such it would be more fun than a raptor. If you like the tight woods and stuff though get the raptor.

Jakal, do you even have a Raptor???

Check out the full system by CT Racing or Graydon Proline. If you can stand the noise, they produce the most power that you'll likely see.

First and foremost you will need six ply tires. I recommend Razrs or Holeshots. The stock tires will last 20 minutes if you ride in rough terrain. Get them in the stock size and use the factory rims. Secondly you will need good skidplates to protect your brake rotor and sprocket. You will need the swingarm and frame skidplates. I recommend the Yamaha GYR-T ones although they are more expensive. This stuff will keep you riding and not repairing. Don't forget safety items like a good chest protector and boots. The Raptor is a handful until you get used to it. Ride on Russian Raptor Brother!

***** Russia.....cool

This is truly becoming an international gathering of people with the same interests.

will be interesting to see what applications work where and why!

Oh yes, I have to agree with Murph.......first and foremost protect the bike....will save you in the long run,
specially if stuff is not available locally. Dont worry about suspension unless you want to race.

First, the Raptor needs a pro-flo (or equivalent) intake system to replace the pathetic stock set-up that lets unfiltered air into your engine. Next, if you don't wanna spring for full skids, you at least need a rear swingarm skid too replace the plastic stocker. After these must haves I recommend better aftermarket tires for easier sliding and more puncture resistance. Next, I would recommend a steering stabilizer.....then a set of hand guards.
