how did yamaha come up with the idea of the banshee and street bike motor idea????

I had a RZ500 90+hp 155mph.This bike was awesome it would run with all the big bikes in that era.Should have never sold it!!!!!!!!!I just rode one of those RX1 yamaha snowmobiles on the weekend. It has the R1 streetbike motor in it.I can't say enough about this thing it rocked.I'm a 2-stroke lover but bring on the 4-strokes.

hehe, I don't want an rz500 to put the motor in a quad, I want to ride it . Possible bore/stroke it in an attempt to be faster than all the busas and stuff whilst being different. Im sure 200hp would be very easy with a turbo.

speaking of streetbikes some guy that bored my motor that lives a coulple blocks away from me has some nice rockets! he has a R-1 1000 and he said he has gone 174 but was scared to go faster! he also has a old kawsaki 750 triple,89 honda hawk,
crb600 f-4I, full race ninja that he races in branired, RZ 500, and like 6 ysr50 rockets, if you are wondering where he gets these
he works at the yamaha/honda dealer, anyway I asked him about the rz350 and he still has pics of it when he had on in the 70's and raced it, he still has the fender panels, motor and frame i think its pretty cool

I wanted one of those RZ350 in the summer of 1984. Just couldn't afford it back then.
They listed for $2399 had a 0-60 of 4.7 seconds and would hit 100 in a little over 13 seconds. Only weighed around 370 pounds wet.
For there time period they looked correct and were ahead of there time.
Makes me think banshee all the time before they quit making them. Who knows.

Chet, I just was on eBay and was looking at some old yamaha's and found some RD350's tx750's ans some others but no RZ350 I wonder how many they made? I know that RJ sport and cycle by my house has a RZ 350 and a banshee sittin together on display, thety have the banshee up there because they want people to know about this, thats why I brought up the topic because I saw the mint never used bike at the dealer, they said its been on display sience mid 80's

albaBANSHE,
I really don't know how many were made. I just loved two stroke street bikes back then.
My last 2 stroke bike was the Kawasaki 500 triple in the mid to late 70's. Sounded so sweet and even more so when I put expansion chambers on the 500.

i love the sounds of 2-stroke! I really love the sound of snow mobiles but the 2-stroke I really like is a blue lt250 that my buddy has, its has a graydon pipe and the idle is not 2 fast or not 2 slow!

the 750 triple kingron is talking about is a Kawasaki H2 750 triple 2 stroke. my friend has the engine laying around and has yet to put it anything. i keep tellin him hes got too. cause it would be insane. there is a site where a guy had that engine in a quadzilla frame, i dont think the pics work on the site though. anyways here it is:

how crazy would have it been if yamaha decided to make instead of a rz350 banshee design to make it the rz500! yea it would be heaver but the power will take care of that!
