how did yamaha come up with the idea of the banshee and street bike motor idea????

Yeah, an RZ would spank it. You can mod an RD to be fast as all heck but I think the air cooled part probably makes it less streetable in modded form. Probably anything more than 70 or 80 hp and you would be toasting. Meanwhile, although it weighs more, the RZ makes liek 60 stock.

nah, shees make like 34 or so, RD 39 or so so a stock RD should kill a stock banshee, its like 60+ lbs lighter and has more hp, piped it gains even more of an advantage. Im sure an RZ can be made truly wicked though, its a powervalve banshee engine. Just needs to lose some weight!!! But now that I think about it, We have the tank and seat and stuff off the RD and the frame looks like I could throw it across my yard if you stripped it. The wheels tires and chain look like they weigh more than the frame.

There are a couple of guys at the track with the Kawi 750 tripples in a Banshee frame. 4.8's in 300' sand, which isn't to bad for a 30 year old motor. I raced a couple of RZ350's on my 1982 550 Seca and beat them. Those little air cooled in line 4's ran pretty good to... in their day.

RZ banshee's
The RZ will kill the Banshee evertime for midrange torque due to the powervalves whilst easily matching or beating it for top end.
